Meet our Pooler Staff:
Office Manager: Judy Papalia
Matt Merritt, PT, DPT
Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 2011
Why did you choose Physical Therapy as your profession? It seemed to fit my personality best: allowed me to meet new people every day, utilize my interpersonal skills, integrated my love for sport, as well as provided me with an intellectual challenge.
Why WEST? West provides a family-oriented environment. Not intimidated to approach the top of the food chain or chain of command with any problems or questions that I might have.
Why should a patient choose you as their PT? I believe that I act as both an advocate for the patient as well as a knowledgeable clinician with a strong orthopedic background. Plus, my intentions are to achieve best functional outcomes while making rehab fun.
What’s an interesting fact about yourself: I love to mountain bike, and I’m not a big fan of chocolate
Brooke Jett, PTA
South University, 2015
Associates of Science Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting
Why did you choose Physical Therapy as your profession? When I was younger I went through physical therapy after I broke my arm. It was such an amazing experience and the PT I worked with really made an impact on me. I knew I wanted to go into physical therapy as soon as I was old enough so I could make an impact on someone’s life just as my PT did in my life back then.
Why WEST? As soon as you walk into an West Clinic, you feel comfortable and relaxed. I am all about working in a place that is professional, yet makes you feel welcomed at the same time.
Why should a patient choose you as their PT? I believe that I have a special connection with each of my patients. I have (and always will) be an advocate for my patients and will make sure they are comfortable with the physical therapy experience.
What’s an interesting fact about yourself: I have an identical twin sister named Blaire! She’s my best friend and we’re very much alike!
Tina Boady, PTA
Graduated from South University – 2014
Why did you choose PT(A)/OT/ST as your profession? I was a gymnast for 20 years and had a lot of experience being a patient in physical therapy from injuries during my gymnastics career. Also, I was paralyzed from a stunting accident while training to be stuntwoman and physical therapy has allowed me to get back to my daily activities with little to no issues.
Why WEST Rehab? I was given the opportunity to work as the aquatic PTA and knew I would never be given that chance again. Now, after starting I am realizing this is a great company with every employee working together to help patients get back to a pain-free life.
Why should a patient choose you as their PT(A)/OT/ST? I have a lot of experience as a patient, and I understand the frustrations when little to no progress is being made, so I try to approach therapy in many different was to get great results.
What’s an interesting fact about yourself? After being a gymnast I worked at SeaWorld as a mermaid and a tumbling penguin. I have also been shot out of a human cannon and trained on the wall-trampoline for cirque-du-soleil. My days now revolve around my twp year old daughter, who naturally has already started in gymnastics classes, and working out.
Nicole Sutton, OT
Tennessee State University, 2014
Masters of Occupational Therapy
Why did you choose OT as your profession? I always knew I wanted to be in a rehab profession and help others. I enjoy the mix of physical and social/emotional components related to care that occupational therapy emphasizes. While earning my bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders at the University of WI I discovered a new interest – occupational therapy. It gave me “the best of both worlds” with cognitive and psychological components from speech therapy and physical and technical aspects of physical therapy. I enjoy working with children and adults. It’s a great mix.
Why WEST? West Rehab is a great environment with caring clinicians and a supportive staff. They work hard to ensure we as clinicians are up to date on the latest research by providing opportunities for professional development.
Why should a patient choose me as their OT? I have experience treating children with developmental delays as well as adults with orthopedic injuries of their hand, elbow, and shoulder. I enjoy the unique challenges that hand therapy patients give and I love how silly I get to be with the kiddos.
Interesting fact about me: I’m originally from Wisconsin. Yes, I love cheese. Yes, I LOVE the Packers/Badgers.
